The Community Leader program is intended to empower dedicated students to develop their skills as leaders within the community. Community Leaders receive specialized training in conflict resolution, peer counseling, public speaking, and group leadership. In addition to serving in these areas, they are expected to act as hosts and speakers at community events and Pitsos, to lead the parent summits and Khabele Circles, and to assist in evaluating teachers and interviewing potential students. Community Leaders are held to high levels of accountability within the community. They serve as role models for students and represent the school to the larger community. As such, they make the following explicit agreements upon entering the program:  Maintain a GPA of 3.25 or higher Attend all Community Leader Trainings Attend weekly Community Leader meetings Maintain an impeccable behavioral record In addition to the preceding agreements, applicants are required to obtain their Advisor’s recommendation, and to complete an essay of between 750 and 1000 words addressing one or more of the following topics: In your own words, what is the mission of the Khabele School? In what ways do you believe that you contribute to that mission? What do you perceive as your challenges at this time in your life? What do you believe makes a good Community Leader?
