College Planning
Khabele has a 100% college acceptance rate. This, of course, is due to our amazing students and superb academic training, but is transformed into a reality by our College Planning program. Starting in their Junior year and through their Senior year, our college counselor guides each student through the college application process. Students are required to take the PSAT, a SAT prep course and the Khabele College Planning Course.
This course is designed to support students and their families through the college planning process. Topics covered include resume design and how to request letters of recommendation. There are three college visits (UT, St. Edwards, and Southwestern) and guidance through the college search. The course includes an introduction to college planning resources, including the College Board, MyEdu, Fair Test, and the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and introduces resources to support the application process, including the Common Application and ApplyTexas. Several college recruiters from universities around the country will visit throughout the school year. Parents and students will be invited to attend several evening sessions important topics such as paying for college will be discussed. Juniors and seniors will receive .25 credits for each year for a total of .5 credits earned.
