Athletics
In the Middle School, we know that physical exercise is essential for well being and healthy development. Most middle school students take PE (playing team sports, running, fitness tests and boot camp). As an alternative, we aslo offer classes for those students who are not interested in team sports. Our current “non-sports” fitness courses include Yoga, Modern Dance, and Martial Arts. This year’s Martial Arts focus is Capoiera, an Afro-Brazilian martial arts, dance, game, and practice. Many middle school students also choose to participate in after-school team sports.
Competitive Sports
Athletic endeavors provide the opportunity for students tobring balance to their education through creative physicalmovement. While improving personal fitness, studentswill develop values of goal setting and team building.Furthermore, in support of the overall education offeredat Khabele, students will learn about the well-beingexperienced through teamwork, discipline, determination, and achievement. Each team sport at the Khabele School has two co-ed teams, one for middle school students and one for high school students. These programs are a series of co-ed league games held afterschool, with practices occurring late in the day throughout the season. The teams will compete with the Austin Private School Association, which is a league of local small private schools.Students may choose to participate in one, two, three, or all four sports.
